Spring 2017 GMC students! Jackie on Charlie, Chloe on Allegro, Caele on the ground, Ashley on Little Cloud, Jade on Comanche, Amy on Jetta, Cecile on Sarah and Bailey on Bailey. A great class!!

Hi Students!

Your quote of the week is

"We have almost forgotten how strange a thing it is that so huge and powerful and intelligent an animal as a horse should allow another, and far more feeble animal, to ride upon it’s back." Peter Gray

I apologize for being unavailable during this weeks class. Sarah is a little better, but I have never seen a horse take this long to recover from choke. Hopefully she will be back to normal soon.

My plan for you was to work on transitions. To an accomplished rider, transitions are like the sweep of a paintbrush to an artist, or the hitting of the perfect chord to a musician. Transitions are art, they can look and feel beautiful.

Please click on the following link to read a short peice about transitions. If you want to read more, there is a second much more lengthy article, but that is optional.

TRANSITIONS in depth

Thank you! I love your journal entries, they help me to teach what you want to learn. Have a wonderful break week, and I will look forward to seeing you on Wednesday the 14th.

And your amazing video clip of the week is a favorite Musical Freestyle done by a Vermont rider at the Equine Affaire. She times her movements and transitions so well with the music, it will make you want to ride. We will be doing a Musical Dressage Show in April, and we aspire to have this kind of fun!
