Angels

Just this side of Heaven is a farm called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal passes on-- one that has been especially close to someone here, that animal goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and fields for all of our special friends, for them to run and play together. There is plenty of feed, clear water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable; fear, pain and worry free.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and the vigor of youth. Those who were abused, hurt or maimed become confident, strong and sound again, just as we would want to remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one thing; they all miss someone very special who had to be left behind. That someone was kind, gentle and loving. That someone was the one who saw in them something special, took the extra step and reached out and touched with love.
The animals all run and play together, but the day comes when suddenly they stop and look into the distance, ears pricked, eyes intent, eager bodies quivering. Suddenly they begin to run, hooves and paws flying over the green grass, legs carrying them faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friends finally meet, you celebrate in joyous union, never to be parted again. The happy touches rain upon you, muzzles and noses searching your pockets. Your hands caress beloved heads and you look once more into the sweet, trusting eyes of your special loves, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart...
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Somewhere... somewhere in time's own space
there must be some sweet pastured place
where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
some Paradise where horses go
for by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again...

Oh my goodness, have I got a good lesson school waiting for me…

No riding instructor has been luckier than I have been, to have had the partners in teaching that I have had over the years. My old horses have taught me what a horse can give to a child, and I know that their memories are with my students and my children, forever. Life seems cruel that we should have our horses for such a very short time; but also generously bittersweet that we could have that time spent with such wonderful animals as have passed through the gates of Horse Amour.
